The humble barn owl has always been my favourite of all. As a child I’d climb the old watch tower on the farm where my mom worked and steal glimpses of their nest…the babies would always hiss and had the filthiest ‘nests’ I’d ever seen. I still can’t believe they could thrive and grow into such magnificent creatures when the environment they chose was so harsh and open to the elements. They still fascinate me.
Enamel on copper - each detail was hand painted using a tiny paintbrush and vitrifiable paints. This owl features a fine silver wire fused into the enamel around its face.
This piece is lightly domed and enamelled on both sides. Enamelling the back adds stability to the piece and means no bare copper will touch your skin.
